The University and the Institute

In the frame of my semester abroad at an Australian university I had the opportunity to examine the methods used in tertiary education further. The university in question is regarded as a leader in Indigenous education due to an Institute which is guided by the teaching of Aboriginal elders as well as certain cultural standards. All members of staff identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. The Institute represents and supports Indigenous students and provides classes concerned with various topics connected to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues. It will hereafter be referred to as “the Institute”.
