Down Dog

Down Dog is one of the leading Yoga apps on the market. The speciality here is that the system creates a personal workout for you every time you want to start one. You simply answer a few short questions and your session is personalised. Don‘t worry, workouts you like can be saved in your ‚favourites‘ section. The developer does not only offer Down Dog for yoga, but also yoga specifically for beginners, HIIT, Barre, 7 minute workouts and yoga for pregnant women. From November 2020 on, DownDog also offers a mediation app that includes guided meditations and meditations customised for introducing sleep.  The app can be set in ten different languages. In the app you will find another section where your progress is analysed. Usually, the app bound to a paid subscription. However, due to the current virus situation, the all Down Dog apps are FREE UNTIL JULY, 1st 2021 for students and teachers.

The first step is to go onto the Down Dog website and fill out the questionnaire. You need to sign up with your university’s/ school‘s e-mail address. In the next 48h you will receive an e-mail after Down Dog has validated your e-mail. You need to confirm by following the link you‘ll receive.

The registration will take via the app. You need to download the app (whichever version of Down Dog you want to use [multiple possible]) and sign in with your e-mail address. From there, the app takes you through the further steps. YOU CAN proceed with this step before having received the confirmation mail.

Embodied Yoga Community

The Embodied Yoga Community is not app but a website/Facebook community.  In April the founders of this community gathered together renowned Yoga and Somatics instructors to offer a five day Embodied Yoga Summit. (The next one will take place on April, 21st – 25th 2021). The offer is free of charge. Signing up is mandatory though. You can find more information in the community‘s Facebook group or visit the Embodied Yoga Summit website. Once you have signed up you get access to the project‘s library (where you find videos of past projects) and you‘ll be updated on new dates and projects via e-mail and/ or Facebook notifications. Now they continue offering workshops on a monthly basis on their second website Embodied Yoga. Workshops take place via Zoom. You will find notifications, where donations are welcomed, but are not mandatory to be part of the community. As well as this, you will be offered a membership which gives you advantages but is not necessary. The membership costs. In the free version the access to the library is limited but still offers you great options.
