Internship C.1
The internship in module C.1 is compulsory for students of the Master’s degree programs Digital Media and Society (DMS) and Media and Public Engagement (MPE). It includes 320 hours of work in the internship institution/organization and approximately 40 hours for writing the internship report. The module is ungraded. The internship can be completed either in Germany or abroad, full-time, part-time, or across two different employers by arrangement. Completion is recommended in the 3rd semester, but it can be placed in any semester (including semester breaks).
Before the Internship
- The search for an internship in a media company or an organization/institution that is characterized by media communication takes place independently.
- You can seek advice from the internship coordinator, the internship office of FB9, the International Office, and ZeMKI’s international coordinators.
- The internship coordinator must be informed immediately as soon as the internship has been agreed (→ application for approval and copy of the internship contract).
- Once the internship has been arranged:
- Fill out the application for approval.
- Enclose a copy of the internship contract (template contract).
- Apply via Nextcloud as early as possible:
- Application form (Attention: the form must be completed digitally, this PDF must be filled out and uploaded.)
- Upload and place the print version in Dr. Erik Koenen’s mailbox.
- Name files correctly as PDFs (e.g., Lastname_Approval.pdf, Lastname_InternshipContract.pdf).
- Status query (processing): check status.
- Upon application, a permanent relevant part-time professional activity in a media company or an organization/institution characterized by media communication with a corresponding number of at least 320 working hours from matriculation can also be recognized (a report and an employer’s confirmation of the scope of services must also be submitted).
- Relevant work experience prior to enrolment cannot be recognized as a matter of principle.
