Boulevard

The boulevard is the main street of our university campus, from where you can easily get to many important places. In between seminars and lectures many students and employees of the university can be found there, as you can directly get to the canteen or several seminar rooms. The boulevard offers many places to sit, which are very popular especially when sunny outside.

There are several ways to get onto the boulevard, but when arriving at the university its best to take the big stairs in the glashall. When you get to the boulevard from there on, your somewhere in the middle.

On the right end of the boulevard there is the big lecture theatre building, with a big and small lecture theatre. Among us students this building is known as the cookie jar (in German “Keksdose”). A few years ago a pilot flew above Bremen and said the lecture theatre looked like that. The small lecture theatre can fit 200 students, the big one 500.

Did you know, that…

The lecture theatre is not only used for lectures? Every Wednesday evening it is transformed into a cinema hall where you can also get popcorn and soft drinks. The latest program can be found here or on their Facebook Page.

When you’re at the lecture theatre and look to the left, you will see the GW2, where most of your seminars will take place. You can get into the building right from the boulevard. There is also direct access to the cafeteria. A closer description of the GW2 can be found here.

On the other side of the boulevard is the test centre. It’s the place where you will take your digital exams, which most of the students from the faculty 10 will have. But don’t panic, most of the exams have multiple choice questions.

On the opposite side of the text centre is the study house (in German “Studierhaus”  /SH), where a few seminars take place. Next to it is a small bookstore, which is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3 pm.

Again on the other side is the library. You can find further information here.

Now you’re in the middle of the boulevard again, where the glasshall is located. Behind the glasshall is a long railing, from where you can look down on the whole central area. Next to that is the central examination office (in German “Zentrales Prüdungsamt” /ZPA). With all questions regarding your exams and grades you can come here, and every subject has a person to contact.

Next to the ZPA is the highlight of the boulevard, for some the highlight of the university in general: the canteen ( in German “Mensa”). Further information regarding the mensa can be found here. Directly next to the mensa is the “Café Central”, which, in contrast to the Mensa, is also open in the afternoon. They offer drinks, snacks and several fast food meals such as burgers, fries and “Currywurst”..
