About us

Rita Groß-Hardt

Head of molecular genetics at the University of Bremen. Rita Groß-Hardt is an expert in plant reproduction and a pioneer in the field of polyspermy and triparentage. Her groundbreaking research has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant, an ERC Proof of Concept Grant and, in collaboration with KWS and Aardevo, an EIC Transition Grant.

Thomas Nakel

Molecular geneticist, expert on plant reproduction, and a pioneer in the field of polyspermy and triparentage. Thomas Nakel is establishing innovative tools for enhanced detection of triparental plants and has experience in the cultivation of crop plants including sugar beet and potato.

Joakim Palovaara

Joakim Palovaara is an expert in embryo and seed development with demonstrated skills in establishing novel analytical techniques. He has expertise in analyzing and interpreting -omics data and has considerable experience in commercial plant breeding of crop plants, including potato.

Saurabh Joshi

Saurabh Joshi holds a PhD in molecular biology and provides expertise on plant reproduction. He is supporting the transfer of three parent technology to market in terms of commercialization and business development.

Collaborators: KWS and Aardevo

Corinna Streitner

Corinna Streitner studied biotechnology and has been working as scientist and research lead at KWS for 10 years. Holding a PhD in plant molecular biology her focus is the development of tools and technologies which support the breeding of new varieties across crops.

Sybille Mittmann

Sybille Mittmann is working passionately towards developing late blight and nematode resistant diploid hybrid potatoes at Aardevo. Sybille’s background is in plant meiosis and recombination and together with her experience in multiple crops, including barley, wheat and sugar beet, this will be an added benefit for the 3PaTec project.

Karen Ilsemann

Karen Ilsemann is Innovation and Licensing Manager at KWS, where she started her career 5 years ago. She holds a master’s degree in plant molecular biology and is currently pursuing an MBA with a focus on Agribusiness. With her experience from both industry and academia, she supports 3PaTec in terms of commercialization and business development.

Dieter Hackenberg

Dieter Hackenberg is Molecular sugar beet Breeder at KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA with expertise in the field of plant reproduction.

Stefan Schwarz

Stefan Schwarz is leading the Innovation and Licensing department at KWS and has more than 10 years of experience in business development and licensing in the agricultural industry. Dr. Schwarz has a PhD in the area of plant molecular biology and gained industry experience in big cooperates and startup companies such as KWS, Bayer CropScience and Direvo Biotech.
