Are you looking for an experience where innovative projects are started, out-of-the-box thinking is cultivated, and important contacts are made? This PRAXIS Summer Camp 2024

Here students can work on a problem for a short period of time with the potential to achieve astonishing results and come up with brilliant ideas, in a true symbiosis between companies and thinking minds.

How does it work?

The PRAXIS Summer Camp usually takes place in August and is an intensive 3-week full-time learning format where companies and institutions bring in concrete and real project tasks that are worked on by small student teams (max. 5 members). Full-time for us means at least 30 hours of work per week, which can also happen on evenings or weekends, depending on your availability e.g. because you have to earn money with a side job. However, if you work more than 20 hours per week in a part-time job, we do not advise you to participate in the PRAXIS Summer Camp.

Teams work independently, either directly at the project partner’s site, or in a project room at the university, or in a mix with team phases where people meet in person, or phases where each team member works individually from home. In any case, it is important to us that all students meet in person as often as possible, including with the project partner.

The opening and closing events will be held with all students and practice partners in a nice location on or near campus. These are fixed appointments in the plenum, while the project duration in between is individually coordinated in the teams, together with the companies. For both events teams prepare and are giving a presentation. At the final event there is also a prize to win for the best three pesenations.

Who can join?

All enrolled students of the University of Bremen, other universities from Bremen or the surrounding area or from our selected international partner universities are welcome. It is important that the students are in Bremen during the 3-week project phase in August. Since the projects are transdisciplinary, we would like to involve students from different disciplines and courses of study. We expect at least a good command of English from all participants. German would of course also be good, but is not a must.

How can I participate?

Please use this LINK (soon be updated) to register and select your favorite projects you want to work on. First deadline is April 25th. Later registrations are possible until May 31st but applying within the first deadline will increase the chance to get one of your top favorite project.

How can I get credits for it?

Even if recognition of  6 credit points (ECTS) in the course module cannot be earned although for many it is possible — all participants receive an attractive certificate of attendance at the end. Even if your elective modules are complete, you can declare it to the examination office as an additional achievement, in order to have it verified later in your study certificate.
