The Italian Institute of Project Management in Rome awarded Olivetti School PACE Italian students as winners of the first national PM contest dedicated to the schools in December 2016.
The students have been awarded for the best start-up company project as a Simulated Enterprise; they are the students involved in the Erasmus+ PACE project, who have created the Fly Away Travel Agency as a Student Enterprise, working to organize tourist packages for the mobilities of the other Spanish and German partner Schools.
Our Institute has taken part in the contest „Italian Project Management in Schools 2016” for the dissemination of a new concept of teaching based on the experimentation of new educational methodologies, entrepreneurial and managerial approaches to support vocational training in order to foster the development of management techniques of a company project.
The students have been involved in a challenging experience, including the management of 3 different projects: the European PACE project (PROMOTING EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIONS IN CROSS-BORDER STUDENT ENTERPRISES) coordinated by the University of Bremen (Germany), the School PM contest entitled “LEARNING BY DOING”, organized by Confindustria Marche and „PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN THE SCHOOL“ promoted for the first time by the Italian Institute of Project Management in Rome.
The Fly Away Travel Agency won this first PM national prize with the presentation of the “Fano Tourism Festival” event, a three days tourist event to promote our town in the Marche region and our Province of Pesaro and Urbino. This project has already been approved by our Town Hall Mayor of Fano and it will be promoted by Confindustria Pesaro to be realized in July 2017.
The teaching methodology of the Simulated Enterprise has allowed us to create in our school a company’s organization with offices and departments that reproduce those of a real company, while its structure and activities work with educational goals.
It is a learning model based on the simulation of real working processes, a motivating training strategy because you can compare the results of what has been acquired directly in a context which is similar to the working one.
The objective of the educational program was to provide students with professional skills in management and administration of a business activity, the planning of its production processes and its typical stages. The learning by doing methodology aim at developing not only professional skills, but also the processes of thought and cognition in social and work settings: sense of responsibility, cooperation, teamwork, proactive capacity, autonomy in learning, represent the peculiarities of the method, thanks to which it is possible to increase the motivation of the students, making them more active and engaging them in the teaching / learning process.
The Fly Away Travel Agency won this first PM national prize with the presentation of the “Fano Tourism Festival” event, a three days tourist event to promote our town in the Marche region and our Province of Pesaro and Urbino. This project has already been approved by our Town Hall Mayor of Fano and will be promoted by Confindustria Pesaro to be realized in July 2017.
In this way our students will have a double opportunity to simulate and put into practice an entrepreneurial activity by realizing a town event, which represents both a tourist service offered by our S.E.’s travel agency and the highest valorisation of the teaching- learning work of our Institute.
The PACE students of the three different countries (ITALY, GERMANY AND SPAIN) have already taken part in the first exchange in PAMPLONA, at Burlada School, from the 27th of November to the 2nd of December 2016 and they are going to Germany in Bremerhaven, at KLA school, to conclude their experience with the Peer to Peer (P2P) activity from the 19th to the 24th of February 2017. They will have to document their S.E. activities in a video, showing the development of the Student Enterprises’ process told by the students themselves in order to disseminate the new methodology and good practices to other students of other schools and to all the stakeholders included in the project.
