Schwachhausen

Typical for this part of Bremen are its big villas with beautiful gardens. Some people declare Schwachhausen to be the wealthiest part of Bremen. It is placed near the Bremer Bürgerpark, which is a park that is open for everyone. Quiet and well connected to the city centre, Schwachhausen seems to be a nice place to live and grow up children, because the area provides many kindergartens as well as a highschool and offers a vast variety of shops, bakeries and supermarkets. Some of Bremens most famous museums are located here. There are also several churches in Schwachhausen.

About 38.000 people live in this part of the city, which makes Schwachhausen one of the most densely populated areas in Bremen and about 10% of the inhabitants come from other countries.

In the Advisory Board election in 2015, the majority of the inhabitants voted for CDU (Christian Democratic Union).

During World War II Schwachhausen had been bombed heavily and many of the old and magnificent villas, churches, shops and markets had been totally destroyed. After the war, some parts of Schwachhausen were rebuilt, so that it now looks almost the same as before World War II.
