After every presentation L2 gives some\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"People and their background\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/people-and-their-background\/\" target=\"_blank\">background information on the authors<\/a><\/span> the presenters used as references. She also tells us\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Opinions\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/opinions\/\" target=\"_blank\">how she felt<\/a><\/span> when she was reading a certain autobiography of a member of the Stolen Generations. Then she says that\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Peers\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/peers\/\" target=\"_blank\">she did not know<\/a><\/span> that in Canada and in the US children were also taken from their families, until she went to a conference on Indigenous peoples in the US.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In L2&#8217;s opinion, there are many\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Audiovisual learning\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/audiovisual-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\">good movies<\/a><\/span> on the topic. She regrets that she cannot bring them to class because they would take up all the time, so she sums up some of the stories for us. When she went to see Rabbit Proof Fence, she says,\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Opinions\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/opinions\/\" target=\"_blank\">she thought it was very tame<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Diversity\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\">but most non-Aboriginal people thought it was very sad<\/a><\/span>. Thus, she thinks they weren&#8217;t ready for more. She also shares her\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Opinions\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/opinions\/\" target=\"_blank\">opinion on and reaction to<\/a><\/span> other movies with the class.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>L2 closes the session by telling us that she spent a lot of time on marking in the last week. &#8220;I have nothing else to do in my life. <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Accessibility\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/accessibility\/\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;m here to help you<\/a><\/span>&#8220;, she adds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Back to the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/data\/thick-descriptions\/\">list of all descriptions<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This description is derived from notes taken during class and my memories of the session.
