They have been moved from a big U shape to group tables offering space for six students each. I sit down at one of the tables at\u00a0the back. There is already a list of questions on the board. The tutor (L2) welcomes us to class and tells us to listen closely to today&#8217;s presentations, especially if we didn&#8217;t read the core reading for this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As many people are having a cold or flu at the moment, L2\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Outside knowledge\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/outside-knowledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">gives us recommendations<\/a><\/span> on how to protect ourselves against it and how to get well quickly. She mentions eucalyptus leaves, and something else which needs to be put on the soles of the feed. This is something she learned from her grandmother, L2 says.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The topic of today&#8217;s tutorial and presentation is the Convincing Ground massacre. After every presentation, L2 picks up a few aspects to\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Additional explanations\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/additional-explanations\/\" target=\"_blank\">explain them in more detail<\/a><\/span> or to <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Reflection\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/reflection\/\" target=\"_blank\">make us to think about them<\/a><\/span>. In the end she admits that\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Peers\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/peers\/\" target=\"_blank\">she does not have enough knowledge<\/a><\/span> to say what really happened in the past. However, she also highlights that the massacres took place not long ago. It is history but it is <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Connection to students\u00b4 world\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/connection-to-students-world\/\" target=\"_blank\">still very close<\/a><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As we answer the questions on the board in groups, L2 shows us an\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Outside knowledge\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/outside-knowledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aboriginal newspaper<\/a><\/span> lying on the desk at the front and explains a bit about it. She then\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Sharing knowledge\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/sharing-knowledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">assigns a question to every table<\/a><\/span> which we are supposed to answer in relation to next week&#8217;s text. While doing so, she tells us <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"People and their background\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/people-and-their-background\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;I always start at the left, on the market as well&#8221;<\/a><\/span>. She then asks us whether we want a break.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After the break we watch a\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Audiovisual learning\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/audiovisual-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\">documentary<\/a><\/span> about Myall Creek. While we are watching, L2 writes\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Additional explanations\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/additional-explanations\/\" target=\"_blank\">additional information<\/a><\/span> on the board and explains that she is <span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Tutor\u00b4s relation to the topic\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/lecturerstutors-relation-to-the-topic\/\" target=\"_blank\">related to someone in the film<\/a><\/span>. Afterwards\u00a0<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Sharing knowledge\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/2016\/07\/26\/sharing-knowledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">she asks<\/a><\/span> whether it is still true that pupils in primary and high school only learn about British history and bushrangers.
