Instead of\u00a0paying attention to\u00a0the lecturers&#8217; and tutors&#8217; every move and word, I focussed only on those aspects of their\u00a0style of teaching which seemed to be <strong>most uncommon<\/strong> compared to other classes.<\/p>\n<p>As I myself was a student of the classes I examined, my <strong>level of participation was very high<\/strong>. By the time I was allowed to conduct participant observations by the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/about-the-research\/ethical-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\">ethics committee<\/a> of the university, the semester was almost over and I was highly familiar with the procedures of the classes. I had <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uni-bremen.de\/aboriginalstudiesclasses\/data\/thick-descriptions\/what-are-participant-observations\/\" target=\"_blank\">gone native <\/a>to a certain degree.<\/p>\n<p>To check and back up the\u00a0data derived from the participant observations late in the semester, I looked back at the <strong>notes<\/strong> I took during the semester and thought about which other <strong>aspects I remembered<\/strong> from earlier class sessions. What captured my attention during the first weeks of class?
