They create a sense of being observational and objective while already incorporating a <strong>certain degree of interpretation<\/strong> because they are written from the author&#8217;s perspective and have a certain focus. Clifford Geertz describes it as follows: &#8220;what we call our data are really our own constructions of other people&#8217;s constructions of what they and their compatriots are up to&#8221; (<span class=\"tooltips \" style=\"\" title=\"Geertz, C 1993, \u201cThick description: toward an interpretive theory of culture\u201d, In: Geertz, C 1993, &lt;em&gt;The Interpretation of cultures : selected essays&lt;\/em&gt;, London: Fontana Press, pp.3-30.\">Geertz 1993, p.11<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>To gain such thick descriptions, <strong>Participant Observations<\/strong> can be used.
